Uncultured Silom is one of the top Bangkok Rooftop Bars if you’re looking for a unique spot to unwind with a drink or you love trainspotting and Instagram moments. Just a stone’s throw from the Chong Nonsi BTS station it offers a unique, unforgettable experience.
Every few minutes, the Bangkok Sky train passes by at eye level, close enough that you can almost see the smiles on the passengers’ faces. This is the main attraction at Unculture Silom, Bangkok’s most unusually positioned rooftop bar.
This bar has turned its location to the elevated train tracks into its biggest drawcard. As trains glide by every 5-7 minutes, cocktail-sipping, beer-drinking patrons get a front-row seat to Bangkok’s BTS Line.
This bar was once known as Trok Silom and now trades under Unculture Silom. In this article, I will sometimes refer to it by both names.
One of the good things about travelling with teenagers, as we do, is that they are old enough to go to bars in the early evening, before things really kick off. This is what we did when visiting Trok Silom when we dragged our teen along.
In reality, Bangkok is a little loose and nobody would tell you that under 18’s are not allowed in a bar, but we did ask if it was ok before entering. When our first drink was delivered, the bar staff put the alcoholic drink in front of Marley, our daughter aged 16, and not her mother.
It was quite a funny moment. I joked and said they thought Bec (my wife) was too old to drink.
Why visit Unculture Silom? What is special about this place?
This Bangkok rooftop bar on the 5th floor sits just above the Bangkok BTS tracks on the Silom Line and has tasty cocktails and ice-cold beers. Let’s not forget chicken nuggets and chips that our teen loves.

The bar has two levels, providing views of the BTS Silom Line. The iconic Mahanakorn Skytower can be seen a few hundred meters away, adding an amazing backdrop. The Mahanakorn Tower is a must-visit in Bangkok.

What is the atmosphere like at Trok Silom Rooftop Bar?
This small rooftop bar in Bangkok, Thailand, has a cozy setup with about a dozen tables on each of the two levels and benches with bar stools that offer the best views.
The bar, being outdoors, is equipped with fans to keep you cool in the warm Thai climate, making it a comfortable spot to relax.
With the trains passing so close by, there is some noise from this, but the bar always has music playing which offsets the train noise. Trok Silom is perfect for a casual night out.
The best Mojito in Bangkok
One of the highlights of our visit was the Mojito cocktail on the menu. According to Rebecca, our resident mojito expert, it was one of the best we’ve had in Bangkok and we had a few!
This Mojito struck the right balance with its refreshing taste and perfect balance of flavours, not too much mint, not too much sugar syrup and a good amount of Rum. All this made it a standout choice. But it was also the most expensive Mojiti we had in Bangkok.
How do I find this Bangkok Bar?
