Here at Wyld Family Travel, we don’t normally stay in the big brand hotels. They are usually an expense that we would prefer to spend on an experience not to sleep. We are budget accommodation through and through generally, except for our last city on this trip. I always like to stay at a hotel at our last stop as I find it is easier to get to the airport to head home and if there are any problems you have some backup!
We decided to stay at Holiday Inn Express Belgrade Serbia. The price was comparable with what our usual accommodation budget is for a nights stay while we are travelling and it was in a great position to access many Belgrade attractions.
Holiday Inn Express Belgrade Ruzveltova is located on the outer section of the city centre. There is plenty of public transport, a stop is right out front of the hotel with buses and trams making it easily assessable to all the things to do in Belgrade quickly. You can walk to the main city section in 15 minutes or Belgrade Fortress and river area in 20-25 minutes. If you prefer a taxi, they will take to Republic Square for 3-4 euro.
There are plenty of dining options located around the Holiday Inn Belgrade including the amazing Lorenzo and Kakalamba Restaurant which is rated in the top 10 restaurants in Belgrade by Trip Advisor. We can tell you it is not to be missed as much for its decor as its food. This restaurant was recommended to us by the Holiday Inn staff and we were not disappointed.
Our room was what you would expect from a hotel. A queen size bed and a sofa bed for the girls (mind you it would have been perfect for just Bec and myself, with a desk in the corner as well. We were unable to use it as the sofa bed was right against it) Our Girls at ages 11 and 8 were probably reaching the size limit that the sofa bed could accommodate but they were happy enough and said it was quite comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with plenty room. Actually, I would say the shower had room for 2 people. Good if you are environmentally conscious or adventurous!

Belgrade City Tour.
What to do in Belgrade? Enjoy a walking tour of Belgrade, said to be the city of an open heart, generous and cordial to all visitors. This is why it is best to start meeting the city from its heart – the city centre. We certainly found the Serbian people to very friendly.

The room had a desk, TV safe and a kettle. They provide tea, coffee and cups for you to use in your room. The TV had a selection of English channels mainly news and business, nothing kids will like but you can stream content from your digital device to the TV. The beds were comfortable and the central heating/cooling enabled a comfortable atmosphere. I for one still don’t get the whole big pillow thing that is everywhere in Europe but if I had have read the sign on the bed I would have realised that you could ask for a feather pillow! Next time I will remember this!
I will say that if you are a family of four staying with full-size suitcases there will be very little space left in your room, but we managed to fit everything in with space to move around them.
Have you stayed at the Holiday Inn Belgrade Serbia?
The staff at the Holiday Inn Express Belgrade Serbia especially Ljiljana at a front desk, Danijela who works the breakfast room and Vladimir who runs the lobby bar where exceptional. Their service, attitude and friendliness would be enough to make me come back to this alone. The staff were always friendly to the kids and very welcoming, always remembering their names which they both loved.
Vladimir makes a mean Cosmo and after awhile he would remember our drink orders, with us just telling him ‘We’d love the usual, Thanks, Vladimir!’ The girls loved it too when he would bring them over a Sprite or a Fanta after a hard day of sightseeing! The girls loved them so much they felt compelled to give these two a hug on departure and asked if we could take a picture of them all together. It made both of us realise the true value of amazing service that includes the whole family.
We spent some time in the lobby where there were plenty of comfortable chairs to lounge on while accessing the free wifi. The bar was very reasonable price wise and we enjoyed some scotch and Cosmopolitan cocktails while relaxing.
The breakfast was first class offering bread, meats, cheese, fruit, cereal and a huge array of condiments. Tea, hot chocolate, coffee and juice are also available. Breakfast was served between 7.30 -10.30am. Snack was able to be ordered at the bar with a variety of sandwiches and muffins. There is also a vending machine with drinks, chips and chocolates present in the lobby.
We would have no problem to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Beograd ( Belgrade) Serbia on our next vacation. If your vacation planning takes you to Belgrade Holiday Inn Express is the ideal choice for your accommodation.
