Family skiing holidays in the Victorian Snowfields are becoming more popular every year. Ski season snow holidays at the well-known resorts of Mount Buller, Mount Baw Baw, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek are in vogue, and there is a lot to do in the high country.

The Victorian ski season starts at different times of year according to snowfall. Opening day of the Victorian snow season usually falls on the Queens Birthday Long Weekend, on the second Monday in June. Skiing holidays in Victoria are possible all the way through till the end of September if the snow has fallen late in the season.

A day trip to the snow from Melbourne or other Victorian regions is easy and an adventure for the whole family. All the resorts are in the North East of Victoria, and cars will need to be fitted with snow chains to access alpine areas of the Snowy Mountains.

Before you head to the snow, make sure you are well prepared. You may need suitable snow apparel such as a snow jacket, gloves, waterproof pants, thermals and a beanie at the least. If you don’t wear the right clothing you will have a cold, wet and miserable time in the snow.

Let’s take a look at the closest resort to Melbourne, Mount Buller.
